This weekend my brother started on the roof of the extension and felted and battoned it ready for the slates. The weather on Sunday was perfect. Clear blue sky that we haven't seen for a while and lots of sunshine.
Ooooooo very interesting!!!! I, believe it or not, have HELPED roof one of our houses - - - yep, sat up there with a hammer, nails, and shingles and pounded away.
I believe your style of putting on a roof is a little different than ours!!!! We lay flat pieces of plywood OVER the rafters, then put the felt on top of that - - - and then nail the shingles right down to the felt.
It APPEARS to me from these pictures that you put the felt down first, then small rods, which if I read right you are calling battons, then the shingles. Very interesting indeed!
